Hey T,

Have you heard that Obama is coming to Dresden to apologize for us leveling the place back is '44? (Of course, based on some of the pictures you have posted, I'm not so sure we leveled much of anything during WW-2 - but that's beside the point.)

I read that there is a growing cult in Germany that believes that we "over reacted" during the big one and went "a little too far" in our distruction of the Fatherland. Given that there are nut jobs over there who can be conned into thinking such, looks to me like we didn't go far enough.

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear what Barry has to say when he is over there in Dresden. The U.S. media will sugar coat and edit everything. If you get a chance, maybe you could do a post on what the German media has to say about his speech.

Wilhelm,

You shouldn't be surprised at all that some people over here think we went too far. Hell, I'm sure there are some people over there who think we went too far.

And the Germans tend to be a rather industrious bunch (or used to anyway). You can't expect them to have left the cities in complete disarray, like say... oh ... New Orleans for instance. Plus they rebuilt a lot of stuff as close as they could to what it originally was.

I think Dresden was pretty much leveled, and being that it was in East Germany for the next 45 years, I'm not sure how it was rebuilt. I have not been there yet.

I'll let you know what I see in the news over here; however, unlike the USA, most of the media over here is broadcast in German.

Whatever the case may be, the pics are cool. And we didn't overdo it in the Big One - we shoulda gone ahead and polished off the commies while we were at it. But you already knew that :-)

The media over here might as well be in Russian since they have the same level of journalistic integrity as Pravda.

My buddy here at good old SCB is thinking about taking a job at the Corps of Engineers. What advice can you give him?
